“Who wants to buy cupcakes?”

“Who wants to buy cupcakes?” Ahmad, on this day, you were playing in the sandpit. You were filling up the buckets and sand mould with sand. Bushra was calling out, “Who wants to buy my cupcake? Who wants to buy my cupcake?” Rohullah came and wanted a cupcake. Bushra said to you, “One cupcake for Rohullah.” “How many cupcakes, Rohullah?” you asked him. He put out two fingers. You gave him the cupcakes and collected money from him. You then called out but not in a big voice, “Cupcake, who wants to buy my cupcake?” Bushra said, “No, Ahmad, I will sell the cupcake. You will bake the cupcake.” You nodded. After some time, Bushra left the sandpit. You stood up and started to call out, “Who wants to buy my cupcake? Cupcake, cupcake. Who wants to buy my cupcake?” I went up to you and said, “I would like a cupcake please?” I said. You nodded and handed me a cupcake. “How much is the cupcake?” I asked. “Five dollars,” you said. I paid for the cupcake and started eating. “Ooo, this is a yummy cupcake,” I said. You nodded and smiled. “What did you put in the cupcake?” I asked. You shrugged and then shook your head. “I can taste strawberry in it. Did you put strawberry in the cupcake?” I asked. You thought for a while and then nodded. “The cupcake tastes sweet too. What else did you put in it?” I asked again. “Sugar,” you answered with a smile. Ahmad, it was good to see that you were taking the courage to call out to your friends to buy cupcakes from you. You co-operated with Bushra when she said you had to do the baking and she had to do the selling. After Bushra left the sandpit, you took over her role as the seller. Ahmad, you were developing a sense of who you are and experiencing respectful, responsive relationships with others. The teachers will continue to provide activities for you to develop your strengths, interests, and doing things with others. August 2019 Teacher Catherine
